About Dana Burns
Dana Lin Burns, singer, songwriter, promoter and radio personality, comes from a musical background. Known for her involvement with various gospel events in the Phoenix area, and working with artists from coast to coast, Dana has proven to be a pillar in the gospel community.
Dana is a native of Phoenix and the youngest of eight children. Her mom, the late Mildred E. Burns, was a gospel legend and profound teacher in the South Phoenix Community. Dana has served in gospel for well over 20 years as an event host, soloist, praise and worship leader, youth director, and radio personality on KXEG 1280AM and 96.1FM. She is also the booking manager for The Zion Messengers of Los Angeles – appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live as well as on the Snoop Dogg Presents Bible of Love Gospel Album.
In addition to her love of music, Dana loves her community of South Phoenix, and helping others in need. The inspiration behind A Permanent Voice came from lessons learned while she was growing up and into adulthood.
A victim of domestic violence at age 14 which lasted for five years, the cycle of violence followed her into an abusive marriage and other relationships. Driven to find her own voice, Dana broke the cycle of abuse by educating herself and becoming an advocate for women, children, and seniors who have been in or who are in domestic violence relationships or traumatizing situations.
Dana holds two Associates Degrees with high distinction from South Mountain Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Agency Management with a 4.0 GPA from Northern Arizona University, and a Master of Education Degree in Human Relations with emphasis on Behavioral Health from Northern Arizona University with a 4.0 GPA. She is also a graduate of the Valley Leadership Class of 2022.
Words from THE CEO:
I’ve always wanted the opportunity to give back to others. After experiencing the fears and torment of living through domestic abuse and a violent marriage, and finally successfully fighting my way through, I’m proud to say that I am a survivor!
I’m also a fearless advocate for children – especially for those unjustly removed from loving, stable homes and placed into traumatizing environments. I’m profoundly grateful to have a platform through A Permanent Voice to help children, youth, seniors, and families in South Phoenix to find their voice, and to make positive changes in their lives.
I welcome you to join me in the journey!
